The Rowdy Rowley

I know it’s like blasphemous to do a personal bog three times in a row but I love when “friend-tographers” come to town for a few reasons. First is because we can relate and talk like we’ve always known each other. Second is because we can make fun of people using four flashes for an outside photoshoot in the middle of the day. Lastly, we can go take pictures just because we can. I need to blog real work (weddings, engagements, etc.) more, but this was fun and needs to happen. Do yourself a favor: google Michael Rowley and be happy. Or just click on his name.

One Year

If you had told me that one year after deciding to spend a ridiculous amount of money chasing a passion that I would have taken that to almost every continent, I would look at you like you were an idiot. Today marks one exact year since deciding to start a real photography business. I wish I had had an idea of where I would have been able to go, who I would have been able to work with, and what I would see. I would have at least braced myself. I know that I am terrible at blogging (and worse at writing) as much as I shoot, but I want people to know that I am beyond grateful.

To Jesus for giving me strength to actually do this, for his gifts and mercy that he freely gives.

To my wife who openly supports me even though I never seem to have a day off.

To my family who is the best fan base I could ask for.

To my non-photography friends who love what I do even though they have no idea what I ramble about.

To those photographers who have challenged me and taught me and helped me grow (please google David Robertson, James Moes, Nirav Patel, Josh Boston and Luke Snyder).

I can’t imagine what is in store for this coming year. It’s crazy for me to think I am booked into winter completely and that I’ll be shooting in places like Ecuador, Congo, New York, Kentucky and Arkansas. Or that I have had the opportunity to shoot in places like India, Malawi, Amsterdam, Cairo and Florida. I just am full of gratitude. I am beyond words. And I cannot wait to see what is coming. By His grace.
